Traditional “OSMICE”

The so-called “osmice” are a special experience and a long tradition from the Vipava and Karst region, dating back to the times of Mary Theresa, when they were first opened. They are very popular among the local people and visitors. In the 18th century, wine-growers and farmers got an 8-day permit for untaxed sale of their wines and delicacies. Now, the so-called “osmica” is organised twice a year on every farm. They are recognised by ivy branch hanged above the door or on signposts showing the way to each “osmica” in nearby places.
